For all Communities Unlimited employees — part of the Microsoft 365 tenant migration.

Step 1 — Save your passwords and bookmarks first

Before you run the tool, save your Edge bookmarks and passwords to your C: drive (for example, a folder like C:\CU-Backup).

Bookmarks: in Edge press Ctrl + Shift + O, click the ..., choose Export favorites, and save the file to your C: drive.

Passwords: in Edge open edge://settings/passwords, click the ... next to "Saved passwords", choose Export passwords, and save the file to your C: drive.

Step 2 — Download the file

⚠️ A security warning is normal — here's what to do

Because this tool is brand new, Windows and your browser may show a safety warning the first time. This is expected. The file is approved by IT. Follow these steps to continue:

If your browser blocks the download (Edge/Chrome):

"CU-Migrate.exe was blocked because it could harm your device."
  1. Click the ··· (three dots) next to the blocked download.
  2. Choose Keep.
  3. If asked again, choose Keep anyway / Show more → Keep.

If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen box when you open the file:

"Windows protected your PC."
  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.

Step 3 — Run the migration tool

  1. Open your Downloads folder and double-click CU-Migrate.exe.
  2. When you're asked to sign in, use your temporary password:  NewCu2026
    You'll be asked to set your own new password the first time you sign in.
  3. The tool runs in stages. Let each stage finish on its own — don't close the tool or restart your computer unless it tells you to.
  4. When it's finished, restart your computer if asked. That's it.

⏱️ How long it should take

Each stage takes about 5 minutes. That's normal — please be patient while a stage is running.

If any single stage runs longer than about 5 minutes, stop and call IT. Don't close the tool or restart your computer — just reach out and we'll get you going.
